Near Coastal Fishing in Hilton Head

This trip aboard either A Live One or Hammerhead departs Hilton Head Harbor for some nearshore wrecks and reefs, typically in the first few miles out into the ocean, sometimes further.

*This type of trip is most commonly referred to as "Deep Sea Fishing" when it comes to the local charter industry, although it's important to note that we do Offshore fishing charters much further out (up to 100 miles!).

These trips typically depart in the morning, with some exceptions for certain tide and water conditions.

Near Coastal fishing is certainly weather sensitive. High winds = rough seas, especially on the ocean side of the island, so we aim for calmer days with a good outlook. When conditions don’t cooperate we opt to stay closer in.

Nearshore coastal destinations include spots like Whitewater Reef, the General Gordon Reef, or the Beaufort 45 Reef:

The Whitewater Reef area includes a sunken 60' Barge, several Army Tanks and APCs, 20 Shipping Containers, and a 56' Landing Craft.

The General Gordon Reef includes the wreck of the General Gordon, lots of concrete and bridge rubble, and a sunken 40' deck barge.

The Beaufort 45 Reef is a bit further out than the Gordon, where we start seeing consistent 45' depths (hence the name). Typically the further out we venture, the greater variety of activity we encounter.
We also offer shorter Inshore Fishing and more distant Offshore Fishing.

Target species vary seasonally. The Hilton Head Island area offers a variety of local and migratory species. Possible catches on our coastal trips (depending on season) could include:
Barracuda
Bonnethead Sharks
Black Sea Bass
Blacktip Sharks
Bluefish
Cobia
Crevalle Jacks

King Mackerel

Lemon Sharks
